CELEBRATING ?

Celebration Plates are a great idea for all occasions – birthdays, weddings, hen parties, retirements, leaving do’s etc. Choose the size of the plate you want, we will provide you with paints, brushes and simple instructions to create a long lasting memento of a special occasion. Take the plate with you, ask your guests to sign it and return it after the event for glazing and firing.

CLAY DAYS

Now in its third year this popular May Day ‘hands on’ event was once again a great success.

This years theme was ‘Make your own Pet Hedgehog’ and 29 hedgehogs were made – an increase on last years Plague Rats!

The throw your own pot was also popular and over 30 pots of all shapes and sizes were thrown under the expert guidance of Dominic Gage. Check out the photo’s in the gallery to get a flavour of the day.

Clay Day is a non-profit making event with proceeds this year being donated to MacMillan Nurses.

If you missed out this year put a date in your diary for May Day 2009!

Please bear in mind however that pottery made on the day has to be left to dry and be fired. This could take 2-3 weeks. If you are unable to call back to collect then items can be posted on to you for a small charge.

COMMISSIONS

Looking for a unique gift for a very special occasion?
Commission one of our local artists to commemorate those ‘one off’ occasions such as weddings, retirements, ‘big’ birthdays.

Julian Drake has undertaken a number of commissions for The Painted Plate.

Subjects have ranged from scenes of the Sheffield steel works to churches, manor houses, curlews, musical instruments and more comic themes such as Frisbee frolics, fast cars and pipes! There is no end of Julian’s talent to capture the spirit of the occasion.

PHOTO TO FOLLOW

Heather is a recent addition to the commission team. Her speciality is flowers of all types and colour, check out the commission gallery for some examples of her work. The designs are ideal for birthdays and anniversary gifts and messages may be added if required. Heather also has a wonderful design for a teddy bear – ideal for Christening/naming day gifts.

Commissions are usually painted onto plates which lend themselves to becoming a canvas, but can also be painted onto other pottery items such as bowls, jugs and mugs. Prices vary depending on the size of the item to be painted and the complexity of the design. Orders need to be placed at least a month ahead and a deposit will be required at the time of booking. Please e-mail or ring for more information.

PERSONALISED GIFTS

If you would like a simple message on a mug, plate or even a dog bowl then we will be happy to oblige. These are an inexpensive way to obtain a personalised gift for those people with unusual names, or a present for a special pet! Check out the commissions gallery for some examples. A mail order service is available for these items. Payment will be required in advance.
